Since 1978 readers have given generously to our community through the READERS CARE FUND

Seattle Post-Intelligencer CONTRIBUTE BY MAIL CONTRIBUTE ONLINE LIST OF DONORS ABOUT READERS CARE

Since 1978, P-I readers have opened their hearts and their wallets to help selected agencies provide for individuals and families in need -- generosity that now exceeds $5.6 million. Contributions are tax-deductible, and because the P-I covers nearly all administrative costs, virtually everything donated by readers goes directly to targeted agencies.

The P-I will publish the names of contributors on this Web site throughout the fund drive. The complete list will be published in the P-I after the campaign. You may opt not to have your name or the amount of your donation included on the list; just let us know.

Your donation will go to:

Forgotten Children's Fund: An organization made up entirely of volunteers who buy, wrap and deliver holiday gifts to needy children and their families.

New Futures: Within low-income apartment complexes in South King County, New Futures partners with over 500 families a year to create communities where children thrive through programs that build skills, foster connectedness and promote strengths.

Northwest's Child: Serving the special care needs of school-aged children, youth and young adults with severe disabilities.

Renton Area Youth and Family Services: Offers counseling and life skills training for at risk middle and high school aged youth in South King County to help them make good choices, avoid anti-social behavior, and avoid contact with the Juvenile Justice System. Since 1970, the organization has worked with youth, their families, schools, and other community based programs to impact substance abuse and other youth-related community problems.

Rise n' Shine: For 20 years, has served Puget Sound area children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS. Faced with the challenges of AIDS, families embrace the additional support offered through the mentor program, summer camp, peer support groups, a teen program, life-enrichment activities, and holiday gifts.

Seattle Education Access: Provides scholarships and free academic advising, career counseling, mentoring and tutoring to marginalized and impoverished youth, so they can succeed in college and move on to meaningful careers at a living wage. SEA's outreach is focused on young adults who have experienced homelessness; we specialize in helping homeless youth make strong transitions to local community colleges.
